Filer Fire & Rescue Division Services
Filer Fire & Rescue Division is composed of two distinct entities: the City of Filer Fire & Rescue and the Filer Rural Fire Protection District. Together, these entities collaborate to deliver exceptional Fire & Rescue services across a 132-square-mile area, serving a population of approximately 8,000 residents. Our Fire & Rescue Division boasts a dedicated team of 30 personnel, including one full-time position and 30 paid on-call volunteers.
Our Fire & Rescue Division is responsible for a wide range of crucial tasks, including fire suppression, auto extrication, confined space rescue, wildland/urban interface firefighting, and basic life support (BLS). In addition to these emergency services, we actively engage in public education, code enforcement, and hazardous material response. We take pride in our Fire Prevention Bureau, which plays a pivotal role in preventing fires and safeguarding our community. Furthermore, as members of M.V.E.R.T. (Magic Valley Emergency Response Team), we collaborate with other trained fire department professionals to effectively handle hazardous material incidents in the Magic Valley area. We extend our support to the Magic Valley Special Operations Response Team, which specializes in high and low-angle rescue, as well as confined space rescue.
Located within the same fire station, the Filer Rural Fire District operates as an integral part of our division. Originally established as a Mutual Fire Insurance Company, this district fostered collaboration among county departments to combat rural fires. In the mid-1990s, the fire districts were officially formed, and the Filer Rural Fire District assumed responsibility for protecting rural areas surrounding Filer, including Curry Crossing, Highway 93, and Clover.
We strive to provide professional and reliable fire and rescue services to our community, employing a well-trained and dedicated team to ensure the safety and well-being of our residents across both the urban and rural areas we serve.
